Lunar Beltane Scorpio Flower Full Moon

This Sunday we welcome Lunar Beltane with a Scorpio flower full lunation.  The cosmic energies are diving us deeper and increasing in intensity. I will offer a special Women’s Full Moon class in honor of Lunar Beltane this Sunday 4-5:30 pm at West Asheville Yoga, so please join our community of all that identify as woman.

Beltane is known as ‘bright fire’.  When the land is blossoming, the promise of harvest is in the air as fertility and growth is abundant.  This is a time of creativity, sacred union and potential. To celebrate Beltane you may do a flower ritual, stay out all night, watch the sunrise and wash your face with the morning dew.  You may make love in wild places and spaces. Beltane is the time to conceive a new idea and birth it into being.

The Full Moon is exact this Sunday at 8:58 pm and comes on the heels of an intense Mars Pluto conjunction that we have all just experienced this week.  This conjunction forced us to question everything and its purpose, to look at the shadows and then to look even deeper, and to consider how our lower will works, or perhaps resists the higher will.  Insights will continue to be illuminated as the moon waxes to full. We must remember that we are still under the powerful Aries New Moon lunation, the true beginning of Spring, which was p o w e r f u l and offering genius solutions to reset, renew and rebirth.

We have been in a window of review and understanding this past week, so delays are to be expected with both Pluto and Saturn retrograde in Capricorn.  This Scorpio Flower Full Moon will continue to knead the Pluto and Mars energies, and with Saturn activated by both the Moon and Sun we are truly once more asking the thematic questions of 2018:

Who am I?
What do I do?
What do I really do?
How do I maneuver time and space?
How can I shift to be more efficient with my energy?
Where do I need to say yes?
Where do I need to say no?

This lunation is also anchoring the Uranian energy from the Aries New Moon, which offered fresh electrical concepts that we are  now blooming into a deep resonate shift in consciousness. We are in the midst of our great cosmic evolution, and this requires diligence to the path.  It is a process of cultivation a dance of the lower will and the higher will. If we refuse this dance, it may be immensely painful. This Scorpio Full Moon wishes us to do the deep soul work, to question everything, and to find beauty in this process.

This astrology inspires my memory of a film my husband and I viewed last night which closed out the Jewish Film Festival here in Asheville.  Itzhak is a film about Itzhak Perlman, the musical prodigy who you most likely know for his otherworldly ability to play the violin.  Somehow I never knew he suffered from polio which affected his ability to walk.

I was thinking during the film how although the polio stunted his ability to move his legs by running and dancing, the gift in this is that his vital energy was able to shift from his legs, to the brain, arms, hands and fingers.  I wonder had he not suffered from polio if he would have mastered the violin.  Perhaps. Perhaps not.  However his story offers an instance of how one may find beauty in the pain.
