The Blessing of Blessing

A year ago on this day Elder Malidoma Somé completed his greatest initation as he crossed over into the Otherworld. I'll never forget the moment I received the news, as I was on a very bumpy van ride from Cairo to the desert oasis of Siwa. I had just checked my inbox and found a message from Elder Theresa expressing the loss. It came as a shock at a moment in more ways than I am able to name in this forum.

Malidoma was a profound and humble medicine man. If you knew anything about his life, he had every reason to be bitter and despondent. Instead, his teachings instilled bravery and radical creativity. Like a true master, he never wanted anyone to be like him or adorn his ways. He facilitated healing spaces so that anyone from any walk of life met their own unique medicine, remembering their own indigenous wisdom.

I am still finding the ways to honor the gifts I received by being blessed to be in his presence. I am struggling to honor his legacy, and today's podcast is a small offering for this majestic being.

As we continue to be transmuted by this astrology, finding our way amidst a powerful Mars retrograde squaring Neptune, I feel we are all questioning our dreams and the Dream. Winter Solstice is approaching for us in the Northern Hemisphere, and I feel myself being pulled into a cocoon of deep nourishing and nurturing rest.
