There are no Secrets in the Age of Aquarius

There are no secrets in the Age of Aquarius.

I learned about Pamela Sarah Dyson’s book with the allegations towards Yogi Bhajan while stewarding a pilgrimage in Egypt. I also learned of the video response from leaders who I considered my link to this ‘golden chain’ dismissing Pamela, and instead taking the position of defending Yogi Bhajan, leveraging destiny over fate. I have spent this week feeling between worlds of death and rebirth, reexperiencing the ancient land of Kemet, while bearing witness reading the words of so many courageous people who are brave to tell their truth of their lived experience with Yogi Bhajan and his ‘inner counsel’.

As a certified instructor since 2008, and current practitioner of Kundalini Yoga since 1995, I feel an obligation to those in my community who trust me to lead, as they participate to remember their power and courage through this technology to offer my thoughts. As my elder, friend, and village witch Byron Ballard has defined these times as ‘Tower times’ we are living and breathing a new terrain where collapse is ubiquitous. With the potent astrology of Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn all foundations that are not in alignment must fall away. This dismantling is essential, as all corruption must be called out, the traumas healed, and integrated for humanity to birth the New Earth.

As Kundalini yogis, we have been taught that we now reside in the Aquarian Age. We are emerging from the Piscean Age, an age of authority, of top down power structures, of hidden teachings, and teachers. The age of Aquarius is said to be an age of experience, where each human being must learn to stand in their sovereign power, where each human being is their own teacher, and their own healer. Being almost a full decade in, we are learning what it means for Truth to come to light. The shadow must be revealed in these times.

I have learned through my life path that the shadow offers dimension and depth. As human beings we are all light and shadow. As much as in spiritual communities we may try to rise higher, and higher, and higher, what I have found to be most successful in my own personal practice is to first anchor and connect to Mother Earth, and from there, to rise higher. To know deep in my bones, that the journey is not just about rising high and soaring above, to me, it is a continual feedback loop between my starseed nations and Mother Earth.

That being said, every single human being on Earth has shadow. To me there is not one single spiritual teacher on Earth that does not have shadow. The tenants of the Aquarian Age are that the age of the guru is dead. Each one of us must stand rooted in our sovereignty like never before. We cannot cling to any single spiritual master. Not one. Any being who has walked the Earth as a human, is by nature a human. One with light and shadow. To obscure the shadow is downright dangerous.

For me, the baseline of the teachings of Kundalini Yoga are about Sat Nam. Sat Nam, a mantra or code for I am truth, may be broken down to the seed mantra Sa Ta Na Ma. This sound current translates to Infinity, Life, Death, and Rebirth, being the code to balance what we call the five elements, the five tattvas, ultimately uniting us with our Truth. Each individual soul has their own unique Truth.

What is true for me, may, or may not be true for you. And vice versa. And that is okay. In fact, in an age of the reclamation of diversity, this is true diversity. To welcome differing opinions. There is a seat for all at the table of the Goddess. As I bear witness to all that is coming to light in the Kundalini Yoga community, I am incredibly grateful for my spiritual roots in Goddess culture, for if I did not have this, I would feel completely lost.

My heart and divine love is with so many who have been violated, abused, unheard, and silenced. I have felt shocked and horrified, as I have read so many who have told their story of the abuse of power denying the basic tenets of human decency. In this time we have been given the opportunity in the Kundalini community to reckon with the truth of Yogi Bhajan’s choices to mentally, physically, emotionally, and sexually abuse other humans.

At this time I am consciously making the decision to continue to teach Kundalini Yoga. I know full well that the entire technology could be made up. Trust me, I am currently questioning everything. That being said, I am also reflecting on the immense benefits I have received from this practice over the past twenty five years of my life. I am having open conversations with those who come to class, and many are sharing with me how important this practice is to them, how they feel they need this practice in these times. I too feel the same way, as I am keeping up with my daily personal practice as an anchor. I am choosing to remove Yogi Bhajan’s image and quotations from the spaces and places I have invited him into my life. I am learning how to be more discerning. I am observing deeply the parts of myself that were so earnestly looking to be full, that I neglected my own inner wisdom.

Fear is currently wrapping so many psyches, and it is imperative we rise above. The depth of deceptions must come to light. The emotions must be experienced and integrated. We must find a way to heal our traumas. Our children’s, children’s, children need us to grow spiritually mature. We must trust this process, knowing that as we are willing to let go, we are willing to be born again. I believe we are on a journey of conscious evolution. The astrological alignments so elegantly display that we are right on time.

2020 is a year of Spiritual Sovereignty. This is the time for each one of us to claim our own divinity, and to take full authorship of our lives. This evolution at times strips us like Inanna, to hang on the hook, raw, naked, and isolated. In this process, we have the ability to find our unique Truth. For me this is the only way.
